Oh, i have met with this mess more than once, Opera likes to create eccentricities. Firefox is more stable browser imho, and does not such surprises.

Noah написал:
but your Russian works are like a new discovery for me.
My!
Russian pieces of art are splendid and illustrious, i guess you know it. Of course reading literature in original language is more preferable to adapted language, and some thing cannot be translated at all.
As regards russian movies... i am not an expert in this field, and prefer products of yours. smile

Noah написал:
I often wonder how your people respond to our American TV sitcoms like "Leave It to Beaver", "Dennis the Menace" and "The Brady Bunch"
Absolutely positively!!
I watched Dennis, wow!! It is nice and funny, i like it and i like Mason Gamble too.

Yes, you are right. Tnis tendency is occurring everywhere and we are not an exception. In some degree to perceive such a gibberish biggrin much more difficult than literary language, but then you have to know more less words for common communication. You know it.

Noah, I don't see the core. You named youself as "a very non-russian-speaking one", how can you manage to read russian literature without nessesary volume of vocabulary and extent of knowledge? If the translation is fulfiled by machine instead of you, where is the sense, then? I don't know, i guess you have to start learning words by heart.

It's hard to explain. With Google translations, you can hover over words and sentences to see the two together. Those old texts translate better than, for example, the messages posted here. I'm guessing these posts are more loose with grammar and maybe even slang? Also, some words transliterate perfect, other words have to be memorized (like Белый). So at this time, it's a hobby, a novelty, with the wish to expand to full commitment in the future.

Джош написал:
Noah, in russian langauge each word changes its letter structure because of using endless complicated rules and a lot of declensions, conjugations, genders, cases etc. EACH !!! Imagine it. It is a pure madness.

Yes, I've already peeked into Russian grammar and it does look traumatic. biggrin But I am pretty good at English grammar, which can't be said for most Americans I know. Maybe that will give me an edge. At least you only have one present tense.

By the way, your English is excellent, so since you know both languages, I will have to take your word about how much harder Russian language is. :)

Well, like one site pointed out, Russian children learn to speak before learning any grammar. I guess I can begin as an illiterate. :)

Actually, many of the old films here are based on literary works that I've found online (and even read some of them.) I like the many Денискины stories and films. And I started reading Максимка. But I do cheat a lot and machine translate them. My guess, though, is that English is possibly a harder language to learn with so many grammar rules that don't even apply sometimes. Most Americans can barely speak it properly. Its only advantage is that it's a bit universal.

LOL! Not emo, I just felt a little sheepish and that pic looked the way I felt.
I first began with trying to transliterate reading Russian in my head. I'm now working on speaking what I see, but at some point I'd like to take actual classes, since self-taught is going to be a difficult journey. Having a whole different set of alphabetic characters to learn was half the appeal and what seemed like an impossible challenge.
