At an isolated campsite deep in the forest, an algiz rune carved into a tree foreshadows what is to come. Twelve-year-old Noah sits on the ground with a sketchbook in his hands. He draws frantically, as if pouring onto the pages what he cannot say. In the distance, the thud of an axe breaks the silence: Owen, his fifty-five-year-old father, is chopping wood near the camp. The sound unsettles Noah, who fears being discovered. He rises abruptly, blood dripping from his nose, and faces Owen’s intimidating gaze as the man drinks in silence. Without a word, the father snatches the sketchbook and forces him to split a log. The axe proves too heavy, and Noah fails again and again. His father’s frustration nearly erupts into violence.

As night falls, Noah plays with a flashlight inside his tent, while Owen, drunk, opens the sketchbook. Page after page, he uncovers his son’s inner world: memories of a joyful life with his mother; the depiction of her death in a car accident; and his own figure, drawn as a dark man, surrounded by insults and violent punishments. Among those sketches appears a disturbing wish: a child killing his father. The silence of the campsite mingles with the noises of memory—crashes, screams, the lash of a belt. The sketchbook becomes a brutal mirror.

Meanwhile, Noah sleeps. Mysterious drops fall onto his face, dragging him into a disturbing dream: he sees himself covered in blood, torn between weeping and laughter. Upon waking, something in him has changed. In the other tent, Owen hears footsteps, voices, and the laughter of children running among the trees. He goes out to investigate and is struck on the head. The blow returns him bound to a tree, the rune carved into his forehead.

The forest appears again, now under the cover of night. Noah emerges holding a lantern, accompanied by eleven masked children dressed in white robes. Before them, Owen remains subdued and vulnerable. Noah grips the axe he could not wield before. The children shout in unison, urging the final strike. The axe rises, and the outcome unfolds off-screen: only the sound of a skull breaking is heard.

Finally, Noah appears drenched in blood. Behind him, the other children celebrate and run as if attending a completed ritual. Slowly, the sternness on his face turns into a smile. The cycle closes: the son once subdued by violence becomes the executioner. Pain is inherited, and destiny is fulfilled.
