Это подлинная история американской семьи, отправившейся в отпуск в Италию в сентябре 1994, чьи жизни были разрушены одной кошмарной ночью, когда они угодили под стрельбу, в результате которой одна из пуль попала в из семилетнего сына Николаса.
Когда Николас лежал и умирал в больнице, его опустошенные горем родители принимали самое тяжелое решение, которое можно себе представить.
